I have found the NASB to be a reliable more literal translation. While studying scripture I usually compare different version against my Hebrew/Greek cross references to make sure as much as possible I understand the authors original intent and context so as to then apply it to us in today. Great question!

All of these various translations are confusion. Have you tried having children memorize scripture and they come with 5 different versions? We tell them every Word is pure. It seems to me utter confusion. Why not stay with the KJV?
