Ministers Of Reconciliation

As Christians, our end game is to reconcile others to God. Paul calls us ministers of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).

This goal applies whether it is regarding someone who is or isn’t walking in the Lord. Our desire should be for ALL to reconcile with Him.

This goal never changes. Paul warns against pride and finger pointing. For all of us find ourselves caught in the clutches of sin at times.

Where would we be if another had not helped us reconcile with the Father through Christ? We need our brothers and sisters!

The next time you are tempted to point out the errors in others try this:

1) Examine tour own life instead

2) Pray for God to give you a right spirit that desires reconciliation.

2) Encourage your brother or sister to repent, return, and be reconciled.

Walk in a manner worthy of the gospel that saved and reconciled you. Never forget the grace you have been given. Be focused on Jesus as you help to restore those around you.

Rescued For A Reason https://brianfriedl.com/rescued-for-a-reason/ Thu, 18 Aug 2016 13:11:00 +0000 http://brianfriedl.com/rescued-for-a-reason/
Sitting on a wooden fence in the cool Colorado night air, 27 years ago, I surrendered my life to God because I realized that I had sinned against Him and through the power of His son, He would pay for that and I could be made whole again.  I could be a new creation! I had always believed there was something more in store for me.  Up to that point I was basing that on my own abilities, a sense of fate, and lots of self-help and success language.  Finally I had understood the solution for purpose had to come from outside of my corrupted self.

Over the years I’d revisit this verse often to remind myself of he feeling I had when I had this encounter with God.  As I learned how to study scripture, I expanded my reading to paragraphs and full chapters and books. I began learning about context and not just verse shopping for the ones I liked.

The 4 verses immediately following the news that we are a new creation are just as amazing!  It shows us that we were rescued for a reason.   He has given us a ministry of reconciliation, the word of reconciliation, and made us His ambassadors.  All of this was made possible  because of the finished work of Jesus Christ at the cross!

Personal Reflection

As believers, I believe we are all on the same mission together.   Each of our ministries of reconciliation look a little different because we are gifted differently but our end goal is found in Matthew 28:18-20.  So we are reconcilers and disciple makers.

Spend some time today thinking about how God has gifted you?  What gives you energy and passion?  How can you use that to help others know who God is and the power of the Gospel truth? Pray that God would open opportunities to use those gifts to do just that.  Take action when He makes the way.

Prayer Focus

LORD, your name is great and greatly to be praised. For You rescued us out of darkness, loneliness and shame and brought us into your loving light.  Furthermore You have adopted us into Your amazing family.  Help us never forget that all of this was done for Your glory and for the souls of those that have not yet experienced Your love and grace.  Equip us for the work of ministry and Your glory, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

ALL Things https://brianfriedl.com/all-things/ https://brianfriedl.com/all-things/#comments Sun, 13 Mar 2016 11:57:09 +0000 http://brianfriedl.com/all-things/
This truth is what gives me clear direction in the midst of the greatest storm.  We have to remember God is doing much greater work than what we can see.   He is reconciling all things to Himself.  We are just a part of that process that is causing all things to work together for those who love Him.

He is able to redeem even in those times we see as tradgedy.  There is nothing the LORD can’t do!  He can take what was a broken life and make it new, but He goes even farther and causes that life to bless and bring truth to many others.  What an amazing Father we have in heaven!

Personal Reflection

Sometimes we get so caught up in the trial we are facing that we forget that God will keep His promise and will cause it to work together for good. This is especially true when the trial is self inflicted.  Take some time to think about how God may use what you’re going through for your good and the good of others.   How can you be a light to encourage others in this area?

Prayer Focus

Powerful and magnificent LORD, thank you for causing all things to work together for our good. Help us to remember this verse in time of need. You are faithful and keep your promises for all eternity.  Let us be diligent in looking for ways to encourage others with this truth. Help us to live this truth as the enemy tries to convince us that we have messed things up beyond the Father’s repair.  We are so thankful for your love and mercy!   We praise you in the precious Name of Jesus! Amen.

Reconciled To Be A Reconciler https://brianfriedl.com/reconciled-to-be-a-reconciler/ Mon, 07 Mar 2016 15:17:14 +0000 http://brianfriedl.com/reconciled-to-be-a-reconciler/
There is but one way to righteousness, and that way is personally trusting Christ as our Lord and Savior.  In doing so, we are said to be “in Christ”.   Chapter 5 indicates that each man must give account for His actions in this life, yet if we are in Christ we are a new creation; the old has passed away; behold new things have come. We have been reconciled to Him.

As a matter of fact He is reconciling all things to Himself through Christ and you are part of that process.  He has reconciled you to be a reconciler for Him.  He has equipped you for this ministry with the  word of reconciliation. Let’s get ministering!

Personal Reflection

All believers are in the ministry of reconciliation. They are ambassadors for Christ; pointing to Him in all that they do. Their lives are no longer their own, but His for His good purposes.  Your life is not your own but His, if He is your Savior and Lord.  Surrender to Him completely and be a reconciler.

Prayer Focus

Gracious God, increase our understanding that you have rescued us for your glory and mission.  Give us your heart for ministering to and reconciling others.  We love you LORD and praise you for all your mighty works!  You are our all in all!  We lift all of this to you in Christ Jesus! Amen!
