reap – Brian Friedl https://brianfriedl.com Making Your Life's Mission Possible Sun, 04 Dec 2016 12:22:22 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.3.17 64732294 Be Good For Goodness Sake https://brianfriedl.com/be-good-for-goodness-sake/ Sun, 04 Dec 2016 12:22:22 +0000 http://brianfriedl.com/be-good-for-goodness-sake/
It can be so frustrating watching people who cheat the systems of life and seem to be getting ahead.  Take heart for a man will reap what he sows.  Surface goodness with a wicked heart will soon be exposed and those who have truly delighted in the Lord will be given the desires of their heart.  Note: This does not mean that if you do a bunch of stuff for God, He owes you and will give you stuff.

As we come into the Christmas season, I’m reminded of the phrase “Be good for goodness sake”.   While this seems yet to be a trick for parents to get some good behavior out of their kids for at least one month, I see something deeper.  The Lord knows our heart.  When we desire and delight in Him and all His goodness , He will give us the desire of our heart.  This holiday season, let’s truly honor and desire Him.  What better gift could we receive than God Himself and all His goodness.

Be content in Him and be good for goodness’ sake.

Simple Truth https://brianfriedl.com/simple-truth/ Tue, 12 Jul 2016 11:01:05 +0000 http://brianfriedl.com/simple-truth/
Such a simple truth. We will reap whatever we sow.  Whether that be iniquity or blessing.  We cannot sow peas and hope to get tomatoes.  While our minds laugh and say, “duh!”, the truth of the matter is that we do this more often than we realize.

For example, we sow frustration, criticism, and condemnation when our children won’t listen, and then we wonder why our children are being disrespectful and critical toward his/her brother or sister.  We sow disrespect toward our spouse and then we get frustrated when others are disrespectful to him/her and wonder how others could be this way.

It’s time we wake up and carefully watch what we are sowing.  Sow good seed

Personal Reflection

What have you been sowing? Strife, discontentment, arguing, pride? Or blessing, peace, compassion and love?

Be intentional! If you have sown iniquity, today is the day to change that. Apologize to those you have offended and hurt. Make a commitment to them and stick to it.

Prayer Focus

Father, teach us to sow good seed in all that we do.  Let us not grow weary in this. Give us diligence and endurance that we may harvest the fruit of good seed for Your glory.  May your Name be lifted high in the Name of Jesus, Amen!

Sow Bountifully https://brianfriedl.com/sow-bountifully/ Thu, 18 Feb 2016 13:03:10 +0000 http://brianfriedl.com/?p=467

So why don’t we give more?   Is it the stories of those who embezzle funds from so called charitable organizations that turn you off?  Is it that feeling of fear of not having enough for yourself?  Whatever the reason, it’s important to examine our motives.

Look at verse 8.  God is able to make all grace abound to you resulting in abundance for your mission (not for your collection).  Material blessings are a way to glorify God. Too many times we are about acquiring and collecting instead of cheerfully giving.

Personal Reflection

What do you have in your possession that would benefit someone else in need?  What material item(s) do you have that receive your greatest affections?
Prayer Focus

LORD, our God, we have brothers and sisters in true need.  Please reveal them to us and then give us the courage to let go of our stuff trusting your your abundance.  May God received all the glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
