“Then the Lord said, “Because this people draw near with their words And honor Me with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote, Therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous; And the wisdom of their wise men will perish, And the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed.” Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the LORD, And whose deeds are done in a dark place, And they say, “Who sees us?” or “Who knows us?” You turn things around! Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, That what is made would say to its maker, “He did not make me”; Or what is formed say to him who formed it, “He has no understanding?”

When will we realize that God is the giver of all, sees all, and knows the depths of our heart? There is no intention that is hidden from Him. 

How sharp are the words of scripture; never wavering from the truth. How rotten the aroma of our arrogance that we continue in sin as if God is not real. We have been given new life and are to walk in it. No longer are we to walk in the death that our flesh used to. Praise God for His perfect son who has delivered us from this body of death!

May 2017 bring a time of renewal where our whole hearts draw near to God. May it not just be going through the motions; instead let us cast ourselves at His feet in fully surrendered worship! It is there we find victory and peace from all that ails us. .

]]> 998 Confess And Honor https://brianfriedl.com/confess-and-honor/ Sat, 07 May 2016 15:21:52 +0000 http://brianfriedl.com/confess-and-honor/ It’s easy for us to watch the news and see how sinful others are.  It’s also tempting to look at the state of our country and blame it on political party,  a program, or a person. When in reality, we are all responsible. Daniel understood this and includes himself among the sinners that have turned from God.

If we Know, Live, and Speak the Truth by grace through faith while walking in the Spirit, wouldn’t we see a change in this country regardless of the demographic or party line?  Wouldn’t we be a nation filled with grace and truth, wisdom and humility?  If we love the way Jesus showed us, would we not see an entire country change?

Personal Reflection

The actions of each influences the entire nation.  The penetrating question is: Are you willing to humble yourself, count yourself with sinners, confess, fast and pray for your nation?

Prayer Focus

LORD, we confess that  “we have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly and rebelled, even turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances.”

Please forgive us Father and equip us to life in such a way that you may be glorified and our land may be healed to a place of honoring you.  May your love reign among every neighborhood and around every corner.  In the Name of Jesus, Amen!

While physical discipline is needed even more so is that true for spiritual discipline.

Paul instructs Timothy to discipline himself for the purpose of godliness. So all our faculties are to be disciplined in this manner.  Bodily discipline is great but being ready for the battles in your mind is even more important.

Discipline is necessary in every area and we can apply its principles from one place to the next. The tenacity that is developed in the physical realm can be duplicated in the spiritual realm as well. Our need in all realms is Christ. Let this nerd drive us to the discipline of seeking Him above all else at all costs.

Personal Reflection

In what ways do you struggle with self discipline?  List the top 3 weakest areas.  Pray for wisdom in overcoming them and seek out scriptures to empower you on your journey.

Prayer Focus

Gracious God, teach us to be disciplined in all areas, especially godliness.  Refine us to be holy as you are holy.  We desire to honor you and glorify your name. May you reign forever on the throne of our hearts for all to see and glorify You.  In the Name of Christ, Amen!
