Give It All

When I think about the extent God went to in rescuing me from my sin, I am amazed. For I was dead in my trespasses and sins.

But God, in His great mercy, made me alive together with Christ. My greatest problem I would ever face was solved!

I rejoice at the opportunity to give everything I am to the LORD in return. Being a “living sacrifice” is such a small offering compared to the gift I have received.

Hold nothing back! Let everything in your life honor Him and be filled with the joy of your salvation. Spread this joy to others as you do the good works God prepared for you today!

Good News With Faith

When we hear the good news (the Gospel), we are faced with a decision. Do we step into faith and believe that the God of the universe has made a way for our sins to be paid for?

Or do we continue living the way we have been, thinking, “That’s a nice story.”

We who have heard and believe receive full benefit of the word in all its power. Conversely, those who hear, absent of faith, profit nothing.

As you approach the word of God, do so with reverence and faith, that the very power of every word may draw you closer to Him and equip you to do the good works for which you were designed.

The word is sharper than any two-edged sword. May it pierce deeply between your soul and spirit and cause growth in truth!

Our Work

The shepherds chose to trust in God’s provision and went to see the thing that was told to them (Luke 2:15)

Then end result, they went back, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen.

The same is true today when we go to the cross, hear, and see the mighty work Jesus has done there. Our trust in His provision ultimately results in praise and glory to God.

Our lives become living sacrifices(Romans 12:2) as we carry out our mission(Matthew 28:18-20) for the sake of the Gospel.

Some of our brothers and sisters around the give the ultimate sacrifice with their lives.

Today, let us remember them and lift them in prayer and do the good work God has prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10) right where we are.

]]> 1716 Which Good Works Are Mine? https://brianfriedl.com/which-good-works-are-mine/ Sat, 16 Nov 2019 13:42:46 +0000 https://brianfriedl.com/which-good-works-are-mine/ I’m convinced that a good portion of the body of Christ lives as I once did: semi-disconnected from my purpose. I was well aware of the commission God had given me and actively shared my faith, but still felt something was missing.

My mission looked a lot like a roller coaster of mountain top experiences with amazing experiences with God on the highs and confusion and guilt on the lows.

Thoughts like “I know I am called to more than what I am living” plagued me. These thoughts when examined closely were not an ‘awaken the giant or greatness within’ mentality.

Instead, there was a genuine desire to truly apply every aspect of God’s workmanship in me for the sake of the gospel. The lacking part was knowing how.

I believe that when we answer that question of how, then our lives are filled with joy as we walk in the good works He prepared for us.

The part that keeps me up at night is that many never find the answer to how. We can be confident in our salvation and yet never move on to the work He has prepared and miss the joy we have in serving Him we all that we have been given.

Don’t stop until you get the question answered, continue to present your bodies as a living sacrifice to Him (Romans 12:1), and see all of His design in you being used to advance the Gospel.

]]> 1661 The Work Trip https://brianfriedl.com/the-work-trip/ Thu, 12 Oct 2017 12:15:20 +0000 http://brianfriedl.com/the-work-trip/ When the gospel struck my heart for real the first time, I gave up my life and asked God to guide me.  In looking back, I didn’t even have a clue of what would happen next.  I was simply knew I had sinned against Him and needed His forgiveness and guidance. I didn’t fully understand the imperishable inheritance that Christ has secured for me or the work had had given me to do. 

Looking back from where my faith is now, I see things even more clearly.  My thoughts then were only the beginning of the most amazing relationship in my life.  Not only was He my Savior but also my King to whom I swear my allegiance.   For I will work for Him with all diligence.  When it gets hard I will remember the cross and what He has endured for me. 

I must remember this earth is not my home.  I’m only on a work trip for my King.  It is Him that I seek to please.  One day I will return home to receive my inheritance He has protected for me. He has given me my work assignment (Matt 28:18-20) and many instructions on how to carry that out.  He has even given me the ultimate teacher, mentor, and helper (John 14:25-26).  Let us all press on working diligently for the One who has set us free and allowed us to work for Him!

Reflection

Who are you working for today?

How can you work more diligently for the Lord?

Spend some time today picturing your inheritance the Lord is protecting for you. Praise Him for His mighty victory at the cross.  He is such a good King!!!

Prayer

Father, You are mighty in power and have purchased us with the precious blood of Christ.  We are Yours forever.    You have sent us on a mission to work for You.  Let us carry out that work with all diligence, honor, and glory to You. May the work of our hands be pleasing in Your sight.  May strongholds be torn down in the minds of those we serve and may they join us on this amazing work trip You have us on.  In Jesus’ name, Amen!

“Then the Lord said, “Because this people draw near with their words And honor Me with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote, Therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous; And the wisdom of their wise men will perish, And the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed.” Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the LORD, And whose deeds are done in a dark place, And they say, “Who sees us?” or “Who knows us?” You turn things around! Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, That what is made would say to its maker, “He did not make me”; Or what is formed say to him who formed it, “He has no understanding?”

When will we realize that God is the giver of all, sees all, and knows the depths of our heart? There is no intention that is hidden from Him. 

How sharp are the words of scripture; never wavering from the truth. How rotten the aroma of our arrogance that we continue in sin as if God is not real. We have been given new life and are to walk in it. No longer are we to walk in the death that our flesh used to. Praise God for His perfect son who has delivered us from this body of death!

May 2017 bring a time of renewal where our whole hearts draw near to God. May it not just be going through the motions; instead let us cast ourselves at His feet in fully surrendered worship! It is there we find victory and peace from all that ails us. .

Often times I use rewards to motivate my children.  We may spend the afternoon working in the garden to receive the reward of going swimming or to a movie.  How much greater a reward it is for us to spend eternity with Jesus? 

Knowing we will spend an eternity with Him not only gives us energy in the moment for the task ahead of us but gives us hope to endure whatever work or struggle lies ahead of us.  For we work heartily because we know we will receive the reward of joy in Jesus!

Personal Reflection

How great a joy is it to you to spend eternity with Jesus?  Are you looking forward to that day while you serve here?  Spend a few moments thinking about what it will be like having all eternity with Him? What would you ask Him?

Prayer Focus

Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Son and the reward of knowing Him.  For we deserve nothing and instead have received everything.  May we work heartily knowing that we will receive the reward of an eternity with Your Son Jesus.  Blessing and praise to You , in Jesus’ Name ,  Amen!
