True Love

Even as a new parent, I realized quickly the power and importance of words. Today our society flippantly uses the word love for everything from bubblegum to baseball. In doing so, we cloud the lines and understanding of true love.

In all of history, there is one example that stands out above all the rest to powerfully and unmistakably display true love… Jesus’ finished work at the cross.  While we were yet sinners, God sent his marvelous Son, To be the perfect sacrifice, fully paying for all of our sin past present and future.  Not only that, He has adopted us at sons and daughters and sealed His promise with the Holy Spirit that testifies this very truth. Beyond that, He has made us part of His rescue mission to others. That is love!  And it’s available to all those who sincerely call upon the Lord.

Reflection

When was the last time you reflected on the depth of God’s love for you? It’s easy to get caught up with all of the tasks of life and even doing God’s work, but we must never forget the love that rescued us and brought us into His family. We must never forget what was paid for our freedom. For without love we have nothing.

Prayer

Our precious and loving Father, words cannot describe how thankful we are for Your love! May our gratitude deepen as we walk with You. Open our bruised hearts to fully experience the love You have shown us.  May Your love have its way in us and spill over to all of those around us today. We lift this in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

  1. The very best time there is is time spent visiting with Jesus, getting to know Him and about His amazing love for (us) me. There truely is nothing else that comes close.
