Love Your Enemy

As you read Luke 6:35-36, your first thought may be, “That’s impossible”. I agree!  It is impossible without God. Fake it till you make it works up to a certain point, but what God had asked of us, no man can fake.

However, what is impossible with man is possible with God.  When we surrender our hearts to Him, He will change what needs to be changed. He will equip us to be kind to the ungrateful and evil, while at the same time exposing our ungratefulness and leading us into deeper faith.  I have to admit,  He is still refining me in that area!

I believe our God asks what is impossible with us from us, because it draws us into greater dependence on Him and ultimately brings Him the glory He deserves.  I encourage you to embrace this instruction fully dependent on God and watch Him work His mighty and perfect plan before you!

Reflection

Where can you carry out the instruction to love your enemy today?

Where in your life are you holding on to ungratefulness?

Meditate on the cost of your salvation that God has paid.

Prayer

Father in heaven, we thank you for rescuing us in the midst of our ungratefulness and evil.  Humble us and teach us to be like you, merciful and loving those around us we would call enemies. May Your glory reign from every one of Your children’s hearts today!
