Live Daily – Are you living for today?

It’s easy to waste the hours of our day in either the past or the future and live only a fraction of that day in the present. I have caught myself many times drifting off from the reality of the present.  We might be worried about what will take place tomorrow or the preparations for it.  We might be reviewing the things we said or should have said the day before. Or we may even hunger for a different reality all together or desire to just escape our current situation.  In scripture we see the example of living daily for the Lord

What does scripture say?

In James 4 and Proverbs 27 we are advised not to boast in tomorrow.  Matthew 6 instructs not to be anxious about tomorrow.  For each day has enough trouble of its own.  I would certainly agree with the latter statement.  As a matter of fact Paul calls the days “evil” in Ephesians 5:16 and teaches us to make the best use of time because of it.

How do I live daily and make the best use of the time?

Here are some simple reminders of how we live daily in our walk with God:

1. Take delight in the law of the Lord, meditate on His Word day and night (Psalm 1:2)

2. Pray daily, giving Him Honor and glory, submitting to His will, petitioning for our needs, asking for forgiveness and the power to forgive, and for protection from evil (Matthew 6:10-13)

3. Take your eyes off yourself.  Remember you were rescued for a purpose.  You are now a minister of reconciliation for the sake of others.  (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)

4. Give Him praise, trust and depend on HIm (Psalm 68:19)

Our walk with God is a daily walk. None of us has the power to skip or bypass days though we sometimes try by living in the past or future.  He has made each day a new day set before us.  We are to rejoice and be glad in it.  When our eyes are on ourselves, it is impossible for us to see or comprehend that. Each day looks the same with little potential.  When we look to Him and His desire for His Gospel to reach the ends of the Earth, each day is a gift that is cherished and lived to the fullest.

  1. I like the verse ” He is a lamp unto our feet a light unto our path” if we picture the light of a old school lantern it give us just enough light to see the step in front of us not way ahead or behind!!! Hope this picture is a blessing for your day! =)
