EncouragementOvercoming Sin

Is Jesus enough?

As I have examined myself and invested in the lives of so many, I see a common thread in all of us.  We are seeking to be filled and satisfied.  Not only are we seeking….We will always do what we believe will satisfy us.  This unfortunately can be hazardous to our spiritual, physical and mental health, especially if sin is what we believe will satisfy us.  If you are in a pattern of sin and trying to stop that sin, I encourage you to stop trying to stop.  Yes, you heard me correct.  Stop trying to stop that sin!  At this point you may think I’m crazy, but hear me out.  I spent over 20 years in an addiction to pornography and at least 10 of those trying to quit.  I tried counselors, therapists, pastors, self-help books and even hypnosis and still no results.  What was the problem?  I didn’t believe something else could satisfy me more.  No rule or regiment can help take away your desire for sin when you believe it is what will satisfy you.  It is only when we come to a saving faith relationship in Christ and then realize and believe that He is completely and entirely enough for us that we will lose the desire for sin to satisfy us.  You want to overcome sin?  Not your job, Jesus already accomplished that with His work on the cross.  You simply need to see that Jesus was, is and always will be exactly what you need.  He is enough in every circumstance.  When your eyes are fixed on Him and what He has done for you, there is power, peace and contentment so that you don’t need to go looking elsewhere to be filled. Get in His Word today and begin seeing that He will satisfy your every need.  May you fully immerse yourself with the truth that Jesus is enough for you today and everyday…peace
