A Father’s Love

Being an adoptive father isn’t always easy.  One of the greatest joys is getting the privilege of seeing a glimpse of God’s redeeming love.  When we stumble He loves us, and when we stand firm, He loves us.

While being a Father to fatherless can be extremely enjoyable, it can also be heavily taxing emotionally as you invest. You desire the best for your children yet they aren’t going to always choose the best for themselves. You get to love them through whatever decision they make.

We all need a father.  They help teach us so many things and give us a strength to tackle any of life’s challenges.  God fills the void of those who do not have an active and engaged father here on Earth.  He counts the cost and steps into the role willingly with overwhelming love.

Unlike God, earthly fathers can lose sight of the vision in the midst of their desire for their children to succeed.  He is the ultimate Father that patiently sees all and draws His children to Himself.
I’m so grateful for my earthly father and Heavenly Father.  As we celebrate this Father’s Day, let’s make sure to give honor to both.

Reflection

How have your earthly and Heavenly Fathers shown their love to you?

In what ways are you showing that love to others?

Who are you investing in that needs an active and engaged father?

Prayer

LORD, you are mighty in power and love. You rescue us fin the darkest places and renew us with your light.  You are a Father to the fatherless.  You see all and pour yourself out to all those in need.  Give us a glimpse of your undying love and help us to intentionally give it out to those around us.  May we be like, you, our glorious Father in heaven, as You are a Father to the fatherless and a defender of the widow.  Grow our hearts all the more in Jesus Christ, Amen!
